raising support for the women of Congo

About Me

November 8, 2009 I will be running 26.2 miles at the Outer Banks Marathon in Kitty Hawk, NC. I have been training for the Marathon since June and am anticipating an exciting finish to the race. I have never come close to running that far before now!

A few months ago I learned of a specific need in the Democratic Republic of Congo entitled the Julie Project. Currently some women in the Congo are vicitms of war and are being brutilized and raped, leaving them impoverished and homeless. Answering the Call, a Christian based missions organization, has worked with the church in the Congo and two missionaries from Wilmington to begin a program to rehabilitate these women giving them tools to get back on their feet again. Answering the Call is currently building a women's shelter near Panzi General Hospital where women and children who have suffered these types of injuries can live. This project is about 75% funded and construction is about 35% complete. Micro-industry initiatives aimed at making these victims self sufficient are being launched in their behalf.

Please pray for these women and children that God would heal their pain and raise up individuals to help assist these women during this crisis. If anyone would like to support the Julie Project go to: http://www.answeringthecall.org/Giving.html

Location Wilmington, NC
